I’m almost reluctant to post this one, because it lies so oddly between getting it and not. I do really apreciate the fact that this reviewer took the time to give it a couple listens, though.
Credible satire of earnest songs, but then what?
The intro seems familiar to me, but once the song got going, that doesn’t seem relevant.
The earnest vocal delivery for essentially a novelty sing is interesting. You guys are playing the performance completely straight.
I think that choice makes an amount of sense. But I think the intended corniness of the overall track would make this tough to listen to a 3rd time, no matter how hilarious one would find the lyrics.
The faux Jon Bon Jovi background vocals gets it’s point across.
But I’ll say this, you really commit to sending up all of the songs like this, right down to the superfluous key-change/modulation at the end.
I think on this listening I’m smiling, but I don’t think there’s too much of a shelf-life your joke here.
Good luck.
See, I really like the detail and the fact that this person took the time to write a thoughtful review. I just can’t tell if he’s missed the point about comedy music.
No new Bassless Claims in quite some time, boys. I understand that you can’t rush inspiration, so I’ve hired a muse for you. Her name is Saltlik and she usually only does stag parties, but she’s really very talented and says she’s been wanting to try out the comedy duo dynamic for some time now. Anyway, I gave her your address (she thinks phones are impersonal) and she’ll probably show up sometime in the near future. (Probably you should try to get to the door before your mom does – Saltlik isn’t known for her modest attire.)
Good lick guys!
I mean luck!
